Things to do in Mt Tamborine

Top things to do in Mt Tamborine

We are always looking for some great reviews and information on the best places to visit in our Northern Rivers Region and this time we have come up with the Top things to do in Mt Tamborine.  From Casuarina, we are heading north and a little west – into the beautiful, majestic and sumptuous Gold Coast Hinterland to the quaint and peaceful Tamborine Mountain region.  With its close proximity to Brisbane, the Gold Coast and our own Northern Rivers area, Mt Tamborine is great for a day trip from our beaches at Casuarina and a perfect compliment to your beach holiday.  Mt Tamborine is an easy one-hour drive from Casuarina NSW via the M1 motorway or take the scenic route via Springbrook and Advancetown Lake (2 hours).

Inspired by a fantastic blog on Queensland Blog “the Official Blog for Holidays in Queensland”, authored by Hannah Statham, we have compiled our own list of Top things to do in Mount Tamborine.  Read on for all the details and wonderful information that we know and love…

The thing that we love most about Mt Tamborine is that you could easily shop for everything you need for a culinary delight dinner – and then head on down to La Maison Pacifique to cook up a storm for you and your family/guests!

Best coffee

Try Spice of Life Café and Deli or Mt Tamborine Coffee Plantation for a taste of local brews – all with their own unique flavour.

The Mount Tamborine Coffee Plantation is a small family owned and operated boutique coffee plantation and roastery specialising in producing high quality gourmet coffee. They are located approximately 40 kilometres west of the world famous Gold Coast Beaches, high on the fertile plateau of Mount Tamborine.  Their plants have been selected from the world’s finest stock. The rich volcanic soil, pure mountain water and high altitude (550 metres above sea level), combined with their organic growing principles, make their beans some of the most sought after in Australia and the world.  All their handpicked beans are processed and roasted on site to ensure uncompromising quality and their products are available in whole beans or ground and custom roasts are available on request.

For Dinner

The Old Church would be our recommendation with a chance in winter to sit by the roaring fire and taste some amazing winter warmer dishes.  Another option would be Deli Vino in North Tamborine for more of a casual lunch vibe, or as the Italians do very well, Apertivo, over a few wines or a heartwarming dinner for two. Their breakfast eggs benedict is something to taste as well!

Top spots for a tipple

With a range of wineries, breweries and a distillery condensed into a short distance, Mt Tamborine offers something for all tipplers. We recommend the Witches Falls Winery as a top spot to visit and taste.

Must-do activity

Mt Tamborine is famous for alcohol, cheese and fudge, and it really is a must to sample all three.

For Distillery, try  Tamborine Mountain Distillery. With a range of 50 different liquors, and more than 200 international awards, this local distillery is a must for all liqueur connoisseurs.

Mt Tamborine Brewery, offers craft beers by their own brew master and using ancient recipes dating back hundreds of years.  With its open and easy atmosphere and stunning views of Mt Tamborine, the MT Brewery is the perfect place for relaxing and catching up with friends and family.

Witches Chase Cheese factory is a delighte and where you can watch expert cheese masters at work. Their signature blend is the Tambembert – a rich, creamy Camembert with a special Mt Tamborine twist.

On Sundays

Mt Tamborine’s local monthly markets are a must visit – bringing together a range of local producers selling their wares and perfect to peruse for a range of local artisan works and antiques. The Showgrounds Market  (second Sunday of the month) is full of arts, crafts, music, kids rides and local fudge. The School Market (on the last Sunday of the month) delights with bric-a-brac, antiques, plants, and second-hand books.
