Bride's Wedding Day Survival Kit

Bride’s Wedding Day Survival Kit

A few months back, we gave you all some tips on what a Bridesmaid should include in their wedding day survival kit.  Now it is the Bride’s turn – so read on for our Bride’s Wedding Day Survival Kit!

Wedding days can be the most fantastic and fun day of your life, and the best way to ensure success is to have a little survival kit in hand. We have all heard those stories of little mishaps – one of my favourites was when one of the bridesmaids’ dresses shoulder elastic broke – from straps to strapless in one fell swoop!  To to be prepared for any emergency, here are some essential things to pack – and you will be pleased you had them on hand.

A must have for any bride.  If you can’t hold them yourselves (in your little dilly bag as we used to call them), get one of your bridesmaids to have them in a stash, or even talk to your mum about having some on hand in case.  Your wedding day will be emotional and even the most hard of us have been known to shed a tear!

Double Sided Tape

Not only great for keeping your gown in place, but also great for any stray hems that may come undone (or in the case of a long dress, repair a small tear).  Really handy.

Extra Shoes

Not just for swapping once your feet are complaining about your heels (although many brides are so happy they are oblivious!), take an extra pair in case of a heel snapping or just for comfort.  Will be a winner for you on the day.

Dental Floss

So many brides will often forget to eat, but if you do, have some dental floss handy to ensure your teeth stay clean and sparkly all day long.

Mints are a staple in my handbag for many reasons – and not just your wedding day!  I prefer the spearmints for a fresh taste and a quick sugar fix.

We are not talking a full kit here, but just some little staples.  Of course any prescribed medication is a must, but also include some paracetamol, antihistamines and some ibuprofen, all in case you or one of your guests is in need.

Sewing Kit with Scissors

The sewing kit would have been really handy for the elastic emergency mentioned above, but just generally, a needle and thread is a must to take care of any wardrobe malfunctions.

So you may have forgotten to “wear in” your shoes – or maybe one of your bridesmaids or guests may have…  Bandaids are a must in an Bridal Survival Kit.

Stain Removal Pen

Handy for like’s little mistakes and a great way to get rid of a stain quickly.  A must for the photos – it will save a lot of photoshopping.

It doesn’t always work, but chalk can be a quick fix for a stain on a white wedding dress.

For sipping drinks pre-wedding so you don’t ruin your lipstick!

Feminine Hygiene Products

Because…well, you never know.

With all that nervous energy around the place, an emergency deodorant is a must!

Concealer and Lipstick

Even if you’re having your makeup professionally done, chances are some of your makeup might rub off by the end of the night. Freshen up with a little concealer and lipstick so you look great for your grand exit.

Water Bottles

The last thing you want to be is dehydrated on your wedding day, and wake up the next morning with a cracker of a headache.  Keep up your water intake and have some handy (with a straw) for all your bridal group.

Ask your reception venue to make up some snack boxes.  Perfect for two occasions (1) when the photographer is snap happy and the bridal group are desperate for something snacky to eat and (2) when you leave your reception.  You would be surprised at how many brides and grooms as so busy  chatting to their guests that they don’t get time to eat!  Have a snack ready for your departure or even better, arrange for an array of treats for your honeymoon suite ready for your arrival (noting that room service menus are often limited late in the evening).

Portable Phone charger

Depending on who you speak to, this could be politically incorrect, but if you suddenly run out of charge on your phone and you need to contact someone to organise something, you will be kicking yourself if you did not include this in your emergency kit.  Remember, this is for emergencies!

Activity kit for the little ones

There is nothing cuter than a page boy and flower girl, but let’s be honest, it can be exhausting for them.  Bring along some little activities to keep them amused during the times when they are not needed for photos.  A thoughtful gesture will ensure they remain happy and your photographer will thank you.
